Chris graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) with highest honors (top 2.5%) with a degree in Business Economics with an emphasis in Accounting. After college he attended and graduated from the UCLA School of Law, one of the premier and most rigorous law schools in the nation. At UCLA Chris' focus was on tax law, estate planning, and litigation.
Chris has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1998. In his first year of eligibility the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization determined and certified him as a specialist in estate planning, trusts, and probate law, a distinction held by less than 1% of California attorneys. The certification is the only manner in which any California attorney can claim they are a specialist in any field and the only way in which the public can verify from the State Bar of California the expertise of an attorney.

Michael J. Kohl holds a US Coast Guard Captain's License for vessels up to 100 tons, he is an instructor at Newport Beach Sailing School, and has been awarded the ASA Outstanding Sailing Instructor (awarded to the top 1% of instructors) on multiple occasions. He is a creative individual who combines his two professional loves, real estate and sailing, by offering his clients who are looking for oceanfront real estate a unique experience in their home search, a view of the available housing market from a yacht.
